Herb and I have decided to take the kids or a kid out on a "date" once each month to get some good one-on-one time with them. Herb started us out in August by taking the kids to Build-A-Bear Workshop.
Meet Emily the HSM Dog and Troy the Basketball Koala. This was our first encounter with Build-A-Bear. Tip: don't let anyone fool you that you can get a $10 bear...we'll need to budget more for the next "kid date" at BABW. All budgeting aside, Lizzy and Marty had a blast with their dad, he was Hero Herb for the day and a he can still be found collecting the pieces to Emily and Troy from around the house to ensure they are being properly cared for by their owners. :)

Our kids love Build a Bear Workshop too. Kyle got to make one a few years ago at a friends birthday party. This year Jessica took Anne and Victoria on a special birthday date to make their own. They had a blast. Kyle, even though he is a seven year old macho man still wants to go back and make another one...but because of the budget thing...it probably won't happen. He can enjoy the one that he has.
to this day, I remember my dates with my parents...they were really good about doing them (until about the age of 12...hmmm...wonder what happened there).
LOVE that you guys are doing this. Your kids will never forget it!
We love parent child dates too and BAB. You have to set a budget before you go to BAB and stick to it because you can spend more on one tiny bear shirt that one with five times more material. So cute!
Hooray for the Dad/kid dates. They are the best. Your kids did an excellent job with their bears. :)
I have a love/hate relationship with BAB. It is such a fun place for the kids, but yes the price tag can get way out of hand. As a side note, did you know they have BAB in Downtown Disney? You can even do Mickey and Minnie or get the Mickey "gloves" for other animals. Too cute.
Even the old folks love kid dates too! Have had a few with our kids only now they still like it when mom and dad pay for it all.
Memories..priceless
i agree with the budgeting idea. the kids around here only get that kind of a date on their birthday. i'm sure they had more fun than ever!
